About Me

I am a person-centred therapist who works creatively, drawing on the arts to support clients in exploring their inner world.

Before training as a therapist, I worked in education for 15 years, supporting the emotional well-being and learning needs of neurodivergent children. I have spent time alongside young people who experience the world in beautifully different ways, helping them navigate the often overwhelming demands of school. This work has deeply shaped my understanding of behaviour as communication, and my commitment to creating spaces where difference is not just accepted, but celebrated.

My practice is both trauma-informed and neuroaffirming, which means I work with care, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique nervous system and way of being in the world. I don’t pathologise difference. Instead, I aim to create a space that feels safe enough for you to show up just as you are. This might mean offering choice around how we work (including movement, creativity, silence, or structure), adapting sessions to your sensory needs, or simply holding space for the things that have felt too much elsewhere.

”The very essence of creativity is the novelty.”
- Natalie Rogers

Counselling and Psychotherapy

I have always loved how cacti never try to look like anything other than themselves.

Like the many species of cactus, we humans were not made to grow in straight lines. We sense, think, and move through the world in different ways. This is something to celebrate, not fix. Therapy should be flexible, adapting to your needs, celebrating your individuality.

People come to me for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes for support, or to make sense of a particular experience, and sometimes because they just feel ready to explore something in their life more deeply.

Areas of Experience

Some of the areas I’ve worked alongside people with:

  • * Addiction
  • * Anxiety and stress
  • * Autism, ADHD, bipolar, dyspraxia, dyslexia, tourettes
  • * Confidence and self-esteem
  • * Depression
  • * Family relationships
  • * Grief and loss
  • * Life transitions
  • * Mental health difficulties
  • * Relationship difficulties
  • * Trauma
  • * Work and career changes

While these words and labels can help us name and understand certain experiences, it is not the whole picture.

At the heart of my work, I see and meet the person where they are.

Creative Arts Therapy

I believe that healing happens through connection and relationships, through being deeply heard, accepted, and seen.

Creative expression can give you a real sense of control in your healing journey. You do not need to think of yourself as ‘artistic’ to get something from it. Sometimes it’s just easier to make something than to find the right words. Arts therapy gives you a gentle, non-judgemental way to explore what is going on inside.

The act of creating can hold and contain your feelings, so they feel a little less overwhelming. In that safe space, you might start to notice patterns, understand what’s been weighing on you, and feel a little more ready to make changes or move towards healing.

If that feels too much to begin with, kettle’s there if you would like a brew and a listening ear for those annoyances you cannot share with others.

Your pace, your voice, your safety, always.

One-to-One Therapy

I believe that healing happens through connection and relationships, through being deeply heard, accepted, and seen.

My approach is grounded in empathy and authenticity. I aim to create a warm, inclusive space where clients can reconnect with themselves, process life’s challenges, and move toward greater self-trust and freedom. If that feels too much to begin with, I also offer a cuppa and a listening ear for those annoyances you cannot share with others.

Walk and Talk Therapy

Walk-and-Talk therapy can be a creative alternative to the traditional therapy room. Moving through natural spaces can awaken important things.

For some, walking side by side feels safer than sitting face to face, allowing words and feelings to emerge more freely.

As with all my work, this is a person-centred space: led by you, shaped by what you need.

Online Therapy

A space where healing meets imagination, no matter where you are.

I offer virtual sessions that blend talk therapy with expressive tools like art, writing, and movement to help you explore emotions, gain insight, and foster personal growth.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, life transitions, or simply seeking deeper self-understanding, remote therapy provides a flexible, accessible way to connect and heal from the comfort of your own space.

”Thanks for all your help these last few weeks.”

Work with Children and Young People

My own experiences within my neurodivergent family have shaped the way I see and support others.

I have learned so much about the everyday realities young people and their families face, and it has deepened my belief that with the right support and acceptance, everyone can find their way to thrive. We all deserve that chance.

I offer person-led therapeutic sessions for children and young people who need a more flexible and compassionate approach to learning, either as part of a home-schooling package or as a way of re-engaging after a period of emotionally-based school avoidance. These sessions are never about pressure; they are about following pace, interests, and sensory needs. Sometimes that looks like rebuilding confidence, sometimes it is about finding joy in learning again, and sometimes it is simply creating a safe, steady space to be. Wherever they are, that’s where I meet them.

UKAHPP UKCP

I am a registered member of the UKAHPP, an independent affiliate of the UKCP. The UKAHPP is founded on humanistic values that value authenticity, autonomy, and individuality. I believe people are inherently capable of growth and healing with the therapeutic relationship. Therapy supports clients to self-actualise, heal, and live more consciously and ethically within themselves, with others, and in relationship with their environment.

Research findings by Young, Widdowson and Tate (2023) support the effectiveness of person-centred counselling for anxiety and depression and highlight its value across all sectors. They also call for greater accessibility to diverse therapies and encourage more research in the person-centred field.

I’m also proud to be part of the Thriving Autistic family, a beautiful collective of neurodivergent, neuro-affirming practitioners. Thriving Autistic offers a safe space where neurodivergent clients can access support from people who understand some of their experiences from the inside out. We embrace the richness and complexity of neurodivergence in all its forms and intersections. We do not gatekeep identities. We honour individuality. There is no single narrative.

I identify as neurodivergent, and while that doesn’t mean we will have the same experience of life, you may well find it helpful to work with a neurodivergent therapist.

While each of us brings our unique voice and background, we are all committed to respectful, neuro-affirming practice. Practitioners who list services with Thriving Autistic agree to uphold the values set out in our Neuroaffirmative Practitioners Commitment for Respectful Practice. For more on the richness and depth of this term, the fabulous Dr Nick Walker writes extensively and wonderfully on basic terms and definitions concerning neurodiversity - the infinite variation in neurocognitive functioning within our complex species.

Sessions and Fees

I offer a free thirty minute consultation so we can see how it would feel to work together.

During this time, you may want to ask questions or talk about what you are looking for. If you find it helpful, I can share some information about how I work, about counselling and psychotherapy in general, and the creative approaches I can offer.

Standard therapy sessions are 50 to 60 minutes in length and are priced at £50. For clients who prefer a more spacious format, I also offer extended walk-and-talk sessions of up to 90 minutes at a rate of £75. Payment can be made via bank transfer or cash.

If you decide to move forward after our consultation, we can arrange a regular time to meet that suits your schedule. Flexibility and consistency are both important parts of the therapeutic process, and I’m happy to discuss what kind of arrangement might best support your needs.

Locations

Being based in South Liverpool means I am lucky to have access to some beautiful green spaces for walking therapy: Calderstones Park, Sefton Park, Princes Park, Allerton Towers, Sudley Field, and Otterspool Promenade are all nearby and close to my therapy room.

I have found that walking side by side in nature can be a gentle but powerful way to connect and reflect. There is something about open space, surrounded by trees, birdsong or the river, that naturally supports our mental and emotional well-being. It is something many people find grounding and calming.

The Chesters Centre for Wellbeing is a comfortable private therapy space in South Liverpool.

The centre is in a lovely suburban location, 5 minutes walk from Mossley Hill Train Station, and the bus stops on Rose Lane. There is also plenty of free on-street parking.
